REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Mulch the Base of Trees and PlantsName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Kindree Brownbridge 4/18/2019 5:16 PMWashing your car, your deck, your patio, your home's exterior (often needed in a damp environment like the PNW)... can all directly lead to contamination of groundwater or local waterways if you use harsh chemicals. So don't! Often water is all you need, perhaps with a pressure washer, or perhaps with some extra elbow grease. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Kindree Brownbridge 4/18/2019 5:10 PMReduce and refuse - The less "stuff" I have, the lighter and happier I feel. Reuse - always leads to less "stuff" and just feels good. Repurpose - I love to "upcycle" items to give them a new life and add funky style to my home. Repair - When i fix something rather than trashing it, I always feel like I accomplished something (and I love saving money). The R's make me feel GRRRRREAT! (soooo corny) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
Kindree Brownbridge 4/18/2019 5:01 PMHealthier calorie intake! Creating better habits! Having more food left over for leftovers tomorrow!
