  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Learn More about Micro Wind
Micro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:58 PM
My town is very small so I cannot think of any places or building that a micro turbine would be installed in
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:51 PM
I had never heard of silvopature before the drawdown challenge. Silvopasture is an advantage for timbergrowers and those who produce livestock. https://www.aftaweb.org/about/what-is-agroforestry/silvopasture.html
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn More about Regenerative Agriculture
Clean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:43 PM
Greenhouse gases are being released and contaminating, soil. Soil effects carbon and the amount it can absorb. https://www.greenamerica.org/food-climate?gclid=Cj0KCQjwh6XmBRDRARIsAKNInDElruiONf3w3XTr_wns1aFPAAntWX0QYHb3Kvr42mGIveddTOorykUaAoWhEALw_wcB
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Buy Bamboo
Are bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:34 PM
They now sell toothbrushes made of bamboo which decompose a lot faster than a plastic one. There are not many other alternatives though.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Install a Toilet Bank
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:33 PM
My region can prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient by finding ways to save water now so when there is a problem they won't be too deep into trouble. Also, this gives them the possibility of preventing problems from beginning.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Properly Dispose of Refrigerants
How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:31 PM
I feel that climate change is being effected by societies lack of recycling and preservation. People should call the proper company to recycle their refrigerators the correct way.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Go Paperless
What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:23 PM
I think that it is most important to reduce the amount of paper and plastic that people around the globe use. There is too much of it sitting in landfills and contaminating our environment. This should be societies priority with all of the animals being effected by this toxic material.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:17 PM
The "R's" that we use in our environment are very important. I feel that they apply to everyone. Everyone needs to continue to reduce, reuse, and recycle to save and preserve our land.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Eliminate Toxic Plastics
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:12 PM
straws and plastic bags for my garbage are very commonly used in my home. I did a research paper on how paper straws are a fantastic alternative to plastic straws since they are so harmful to our environment. Paper bags could also be substituted for plastic bags. It is very common in Welfleet Cape Cod to use paper bags instead of plastic.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    isabella fanning's avatar
    isabella fanning 5/01/2019 2:09 PM
It would help if everyone throughout the town could replace their shower heads with a low powered shower head. My town is very small and it is very sustainable for now.
