Learn More about Micro Wind
#76 Micro Wind
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of Micro Wind.
Electricity Generation
Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
#30 Methane Digesters (large), #64 Methane Digesters (small)
I will watch a video about methane digesters (also commonly known as anaerobic digesters).
Buildings and Cities
Go for a Daily Walk
#54 Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 15 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Materials
Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
#46 Water Saving - Home
I will prevent water runoff and increase absorbency by mulching the base of trees and plants in my yard.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Laurel Fullerton 4/25/2019 4:50 PMThe challenge went great, but there was one action that I didn't get to do, and I wish I did it. Other than that though, I think it went pretty well. -
Laurel Fullerton 4/14/2019 9:50 AMI only have one more one-time challenge to do! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Learn about Temperate ForestsAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Laurel Fullerton 4/14/2019 9:49 AMIt makes me think more about how important the forests are for the earth and for our own well being, and that some people don't realize that or they just don't care. I think it's overwhelming how much of Earth's original forests have been destroyed for various reasons like agriculture and construction (the wood for building and just clearing areas for building sites). What makes me feel hopeful is that more and more people are becoming aware about the problems that our forests are facing and that more and more people are joining in the fight to save them, and we just have to hope that what we are doing is enough. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Laurel Fullerton 4/07/2019 4:46 PMMy vision of a sustainable community is one with solar panels, micro wind windmills, and other objects that obtain energy through natural and sustainable means. There also would be methane (anaerobic) digesters. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about Micro WindMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Laurel Fullerton 4/07/2019 4:36 PMThey could be installed on top of stores located in outdoor and indoor malls, and in the downtown areas to help power lamps and signs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Laurel Fullerton 4/04/2019 5:11 PMIt is available to the majority of the public and is a partial staple in the American culture -
Laurel Fullerton 4/03/2019 5:31 PMSo far I have completed 3 challenges, 2 of which were daily challenges-
