My challenge is going very well.  I learned a lot of information about family planning and how critical it is still in 3rd world countries.  Went on women based businesses and am definitely going to buy some products from them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?

Well we can support women by going to their businesses and buying their wares and then going on an online feed and rating your experience and hopefully bringing in other women to support them, like a telephone chain.

UNFPA works to support family planning by trying to provide it in rural areas that still have no access to contraception, which still is surprising to me in these days and times.  But then I read an article about a program that is known as Dr. One using drones to drop birth control, condoms and other medical supplies in rural areas of Ghana and is expanding into 6 other African countries.  This is excellent news

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I grew up on Meat and Potatoes and it's very hard to give that up, but I have considerably cut down on meat or I use better cuts of them.  And I just think that's what our culture knows.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

We won't eat as much food and we won't be throwing more food out and wasting it.

Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

I know that the sell by doesn't mean that the item is spoiled if it's over the date, it's just better to buy the product before the date on the food for best quality and the use by and best dates to me were explanatory.
