  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

Smaller portion sizes and slower eating will help with the family budget, help with better health outcomes, help reduce waste and encourage more conversation at the table.

Food Learn More about Regenerative Agriculture
Clean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?

Soil health and fewer chemicals consumed.  I'm going to guess that farmers with diverse crops would have better leveraged risk as well.

Looks like I added 9 challenges for just my first day, thinking it was for the entire challenge period.  I didn't really know what I was doing obviously.  I should have listened to the warning that popped up after selecting my 6th challenge last week. :)

Identify some ways in which modern human societies have become unsustainable. What kind of roles do individuals have in creating and changing practices in society?

Individuals must step up and be public about their contributions.  Thorsten's post last week on Facebook mentions the silent majority needing to come out of the closet, not necessarily with the intention of being role models, but to SUPPORT the early adopters.   At the same time it's important to have productive conversations that engage people with opposite views or influenced.

Modern human societies have become unsustainable in many ways.

    Hello Grey-Bruce!
From what I've been able to figure out, beginning on Apr 3 we start ticking small/medium/large green tasks off lists that we create ourselves.  Some TIPS:
    • If you get lost on the site, just click DASHBOARD at the top and you should gain some familiarity.
    • If this is your first time exploring the site, click on the HOW-TO VIDEO over on the left sidebar.
    • I'm pretty sure this is the honour system, and I've noticed some of the actions say "I already do this" at the bottom, so stay true to yourself and tick those tickboxes to ignore those tasks... this is a challenge and our team will have integrity!
    • If you miss a bunch of days don't despair, just pop back in and do a few.  Nobody's judging you.... at least not in this group.
Full disclosure: as captain of this team, I'm not really sure I can keep up every day, so if one of you is up for the captain's challenge just let me know... text me at fiveonenine twosevenzero eightzerofourone because I'm not confident I can even find your message here. LOL
