  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

I refuse quite a bit and don't buy things I don't need. My apartment is small and I'm happier when I have less stuff to clutter it up. I repurpose/upcycle a lot of clothes and household items through my neighborhood Buy Nothing group and feel good when I give my things a new home with a neighbor. I would like to look for more ways to reduce, especially with food packaging, and be more conscious about only buying products with recyclable packaging.

I moved to a more centrally located neighborhood with better bus access to work. More bus options allowed me to get rid of my car.

I noticed a lot of sidewalk closures due to construction. Areas were closed even when work wasn't underway. It would be nice if keeping sidewalks open during construction was more of a priority.

Very insightful. I had to cross the street several times the other day walking down to REI from Capitol Hill and didn't think much about it other than minor inconvenience for me. Fortunately, I'm able bodied, but these disruptions impact everyone differently.
