Christine Hs 4/23/2019 12:02 AMI have been eating more meat products lately in an effort to meet fitness goals - perhaps I can "green" this process by purchasing organic chicken, or concentrating my sources of protein to just 1 source - such as eggs only. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Advocate for Solar InstallationHow does advocating for rooftop solar connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?
Christine Hs 4/23/2019 12:00 AMAdvocating for rooftop solar connects with my values because I believe that rallying our friends, family, neighbors, and community is an integral part of implementing a sustainable lifestyle. i believe we can do this effectively by informing ourselves first, fact checking our knowledge with professionals and academics in our community and via the internet - and then, sharing this knowledge with our social circles by initiating conversation and increasing consideration for our environmental impacts. -
Christine Hs 4/22/2019 11:55 PMI'm in process of discussing the compost installation with my parents at our family home. Will discuss with my sister about installing one at her home next! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Rooftop Solar ConsultationIdentify some ways in which modern human societies have become unsustainable. What kind of roles do individuals have in creating and changing practices in society?
Christine Hs 4/18/2019 11:58 PM1. Reliance on individual automobiles to be a productive member of the American economy-
2. Rampant avoidable food waste
3. Rampant avoidable excessive use of one-use plastic
4. Certain types of farming that causes environmental degradation -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Share Bioplastic Disposal TipsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Christine Hs 4/18/2019 11:52 PMBiggest concern is the use of non renewable resources and the rampant, avoidable waste of food!!! Second biggest is polluting the atmosphere, water, and other natural resources with harmful materials and garbage. So number 1 and 2 are food waste and garbage pollution. These two harmful affects are visible on a both local and global level, easily distinguishable by all ages, backgrounds, socioeconomic, and education levels. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Christine Hs 4/18/2019 11:46 PMMy diet is currently impacting deforestation becasue I consumed beef, corn, soy, among other crops that require deforestation to be grown. I could eat less beef even though I already don’t consume very much (once a month- and I eat all you can eat kbbq 1-2x a year.) -
Christine Hs 4/18/2019 11:42 PMChallenge is going fairly well, but I will start hitting higher daily targets. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Install a Toilet BankHow can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?
Christine Hs 4/18/2019 11:41 PMMy region and household, and any household, can prepare ourselves for changing water availability conditions by adjusting water usage to minimal levels. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Advocate for Forest ProtectionHigher standards of living are very often dependent on moving our environmental costs elsewhere. What are some specific ways in which the environmental impacts of your own lifestyle might be shifted elsewhere?
Christine Hs 4/08/2019 11:59 PMA few specific examples of this would be fast fashion - cheap, fashionable clothes that were manufactured in polluting factories by cheap labor. The accessibility of this lifestyle is made possible by the cheap labor in other countries. Going on cruise vacations is another example of this.
