Lisa Kropp 4/09/2019 7:12 AMAnyone that knows me knows I am a big coffee drinker. Last year, I really committed to using a stainless steel cup - and it is pretty cemented in my head now that I always have it with me. But honestly, I never spent a lot of time thinking about: where are these coffee beans coming from? Or further down the rabbit hole - where is the palm oil in the pastries and baked goods coming from? At home, we've switched over to fair trade, sustainable coffee. But now I'm doing my research on those larger companies that I spend money at, to see what there policies are. There is always something to learn! Here is what Starbucks says about their efforts: https://stories.starbucks.com/stories/sustainability/

Lisa Kropp 4/06/2019 8:08 PMHow is everyone doing with their challenges? Keeping track of food waste has been eye opening! -
Lisa Kropp 4/03/2019 6:12 PMOur compost pile at work has been growing and I’m excited to set up a container in the staff lounge to collect banana peels, coffee grinds, and egg shells. If this was a coffee challenge, Team Lindy would be set! Lots of grinds over here to add to our compost pile. -
Lisa Kropp 4/02/2019 7:48 AMTeam Lindy- our challenge starts tomorrow! Who's ready? Let's recruit some more folks and build our team! -
Lisa Kropp 3/27/2019 5:24 PMWho has switched to more sustainable straws? Trying to decide which to try: stainless steel, glass, or silicone? Anyone have a favorite?-
Shannon Meany 3/29/2019 10:25 AMI've read that silicone straws can be burned when they've seen better days, creating a biodegradable ash. Probably not as sustainable as a compostable paper straw (though exciting for anyone who likes a good chemistry experiment!), but I think I want to give them a try based on longevity. I keep seeing the Koffie Straw as a top contender, but Hiware seems to come highly recommended, too!
