Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

I have a bike but it's challenging for more hilly or longer destinations - I tend to take a lyft or borrow a car. I occasionally ride the bikeshares but I'm curious about learning more about electric bikes as a possibility for something to invest in, as I've considered buying a car for more convenient journeys.

There's something so magical about purchasing fruits and veggies from the grand lake farmers market (mentioned on the site in the resource link, https://www.localharvest.org/grand-lake-farmers-market-M4004) and supporting local economies. With more support, we can help strengthen these community based food systems so that quality local organic food can be more accessible and affordable to all.

How are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?

As open fires or basic stoves burn in homes or places without a lot of air flow, they let out huge amounts of smoke and soot ---- liable for 4.3 million premature deaths each year. This isn't something I've thought about much before, but is so incredibly sad. I've spent some time in a community Kenya, one of for Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves's focus countries, and am so grateful for the work they're doing there and all over the world.
