REFLECTION QUESTIONFood CompostingProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Adelaide Landsman 4/25/2019 11:44 AMI think the hours of labor matter the most to me because there are so many people who work such long hours to support their families on very low wages and if I were to save enough to make a few more meals those people might have to work a little less. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Adelaide Landsman 4/24/2019 3:36 PMI think the accessibility of meat is the main factor in our use of it. Because of mass production and farming, meat is cheaper and you can find it everywhere. It is easier for us to pick up some cheap corn-fed meat than to spend the time going out to a sustainable farm where we have to spend more money to get better meat. This says that we as a general whole would rather buy something cheap and close by at the expense of our planet and health than go a little out of our way for something that's better for us and the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Public TransitHow has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Adelaide Landsman 4/24/2019 3:30 PMRiding the subway turned out to be much faster and easier than driving in a car. I got to where I was going in less time that it would have taken me to drive, and I didn't have to deal with traffic or gas.
