I'm feeling quite inspired about our collective efforts at making one step at a time changes.  I love this saying, "If you can't life five hundred pounds all at once, but you can lift one pound five hundred times."   Well it's paraphrasing.  Looking forward to the potluck to capture more inspiration. Lets make a ripple effect turn into a tidal wave! xo

I joined ecochallenge because I know we all have a part to play in the shift. Just read an article in the Guardian saying if we want to stick to 1.5 degrees celsius, we need all hands on deck! That means individual and collective action are a must.  I love feeling connected by community. When I talk to others about climate and they go blank, I feel alone. When I connect with the likes of you, I feel energized and inspired! thank you. :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

    Celia Laval's avatar
    Celia Laval 4/20/2019 9:24 AM
    It's habit, tradition and convenience.
I'm not sure I like the reflection question but what I would say is the more plant based i eat the more in line with my values I feel. I appreciate vegans who have showed us so much in this regard!

I was really inspired by giving microloans as part of my ecochallenge! I highly recommend this action. Very cool, :D

Cory, people should take you more seriously. Besides you are a teenager now!

I already try to give micro loans but few people take me seriously because I'm a kid :(
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Give a Microloan
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. Why do you think that is?

    Celia Laval's avatar
    Celia Laval 4/03/2019 8:46 PM
Boy. That question makes you think.  It's hard to answer. Possibly because women are often more involved than men in childrearing (not in your case Dan Vie) and sonwoman are mmore  emotionally invested.  Part of the solution is around work with men too, right?

I agree Celia! I think there is a mix of history and biology at play with females as traditional caregivers. However we can shift our societies towards more equitable investment in our families and communities, by making it safe and supported for men to take on more traditionally feminine roles, and vice versa.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

    Celia Laval's avatar
    Celia Laval 4/03/2019 8:44 PM
I would rather use this money on massages! (Juliana!)

What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

We can talk more to our neighbours, grow our food, and do more local things. Could be fun!
