REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social Justice Advocate for Forest ProtectionHigher standards of living are very often dependent on moving our environmental costs elsewhere. What are some specific ways in which the environmental impacts of your own lifestyle might be shifted elsewhere?
Lansing Miller 4/29/2019 10:07 AMEnvironmental impacts of my lifestyle may be shifted elsewhere if another household might want to investigate solar energy because of my families investment in it. This could be a chain reaction and spread all over our town. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social Justice Learn about Local Indigenous PracticesWhat did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?
Lansing Miller 4/29/2019 10:01 AMIt conserves biodiversity, maintains a range of ecosystems services, and safeguards rich cultures. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social Justice Contact your Elected OfficialsDo you have any personal connections to a farm or farmland? If so, what are they? What feelings are evoked for you when thinking about declining farmland?
Lansing Miller 4/29/2019 9:54 AMI grew up on a farm so I have a deep connection to farm land. I love having farm land because it is so beautiful and empty. Many animals benefit from open farm land and it is important to keep it conserved. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social Justice DonateHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Lansing Miller 4/29/2019 9:53 AMThey are human health issues because black carbon and other emissions can negatively affect ones health. These issues matter to me because I feel that they are important to our earth's health and my individual health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Advocate for Solar InstallationHow does advocating for rooftop solar connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?
Lansing Miller 4/29/2019 9:52 AMI love protecting the environment. Rooftop solar connects to my values because it does just that. My fathers company is an energy company with a focus in automation. I could use his company to promote clean energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Spread the Word about Energy AlternativesWhat inspiration and wisdom can you gather from your family, faith, or community traditions that would help you in both communicating about and addressing our most pressing energy issues?
Lansing Miller 4/29/2019 9:50 AMWhere I grew up there is a lot of open land. There are many operating farms located around my home town. There is great connection between farmers and townies. With that connection it would be easy to talk to people about renewable energy sources. Solar could work really well in my home town because there is a lot of open land where units could be placed. Energy is used a lot where I live. Renewable energy and sustainable energy could be very beneficial to my area
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Solar Water ConsultationDiversifying our energy supply and improving public health are just two benefits of renewable energy. What other motivators inspire you to consider installing a solar water heater in your home?
Lansing Miller 4/28/2019 7:31 PMIt is cheaper than paying for electricity each month to run the water heater. The sun provides free energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 2How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Lansing Miller 4/28/2019 7:30 PMIt was difficult but it was good for my health and for the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Lansing Miller 4/28/2019 7:29 PMI used to drink coffee but I gave it up partially because it wasn't good for me and mostly because it contributes to deforestation. Cutting down on coffee can defiantly impact deforestation percentages. We just need to get the rest of the world on board. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Lansing Miller 4/28/2019 7:28 PMFor me personally, planting trees is very good for my mental health. It shows new life and I enjoy watching the evolution of the trees that we just planted at our lake house over spring break.
