REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Go PaperlessWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Danielle Minard 4/24/2019 6:18 AMEnjoying the outdoors and local attractions, and I'd rather save the money and have fewer financial worries than buy stuff I don't need. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Buy BambooAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Danielle Minard 4/24/2019 6:18 AMEverything's available in my community via the internet! We have bamboo straws and purchased them at a museum last year. They've held up very well and are easy to clean with a pipe cleaner. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Danielle Minard 4/24/2019 6:17 AMPlanting tress will improve air quality. I always feel relaxed after being in woods or gardens. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Danielle Minard 4/24/2019 6:16 AMI want to start supporting local farmers more. I signed up for a CSA this summer and am excited to eat fresh Long Island fruit and vegetables every week -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Danielle Minard 4/24/2019 6:14 AMI always do my best to not waste food and often freeze it if I know I won't be able to eat it before it expires. A vacation with that $1,500 would be great! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Express My SupportHow could better walking infrastructure make your city both more enjoyable and more equitable?
Danielle Minard 4/18/2019 7:45 AMIt was frustratingly difficult to figure out who to contact. I wound up contacting a local legislator who will hopefully be able to either help or redirect me to the right person or department. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric VehicleReducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?
Danielle Minard 4/15/2019 11:05 AMReducing exhaust emissions and saving money on gas are both motivators for me to buy a hybrid or fully electric car when it's time for me and my husband to replace our cars. I'll look in to an electric car for myself as I don't commute far to work, but a hybrid would be better for him since he drives far daily. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Danielle Minard 4/11/2019 6:25 PMDecrease food waste. Everything is edible til it expires or goes bad. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Danielle Minard 4/11/2019 6:23 PMI hadn't heard of it but the concept seems to make perfect sense. I hope it becomes more common. Such a much or natural way to work with land, animals and the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Replace Manual ThermostatsHow do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for smart ones will positively impact your life?
Danielle Minard 4/11/2019 6:25 AMI love that I can control my thermostat from my phone in case I forget to lower the heat before I leave the house. I've been keeping the temperature lower when I'm not home as well.
