What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

My village doesn't have sidewalks on all streets and I'm not comfortable walking in the street so it limits where and how much I walk.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Explore Other Buildings and Cities Solutions
What did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?

The drawdown article was probably the densest I've read so far in this challenge and I don't recommend it. The Solutions U piece, on the other hand, was quite accessible. I learned that separating bikes from cars increased bike trips 60% in Vancouver BC.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Social Justice Learn about Local Indigenous Practices
What did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?

I think it's about being in touch with where you live, and remembering that every choice has many impacts.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn More about Regenerative Agriculture
Clean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?

    It's sustainable. I don't understand....this seems like a no-brainer. I wonder what the barriers are to adoption.....
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

I had never heard of 'silvopasture' before and was quite interested to read about it. It seems so simple. I wonder if there are regulatory barriers to adopting it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Miriam Moore 4/03/2019 12:38 PM
Capitalism is the biggest obstacle to sustainability in my opinion because of the 'tragedy of the commons,' the idea that things that are owned by all are not valued in the same way as individual property. It's sad.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

I love walking to get coffee - it makes me feel like I've "earned" it (regardless of what the calories might say).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Miriam Moore 4/03/2019 12:35 PM
I know my family wastes "our share" of food, but the thought that we're throwing out an average of $1600 per family per year is mind blowing. That's real money!!!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Conduct Virtual Meetings
How can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?

    Miriam Moore 4/03/2019 12:34 PM
I've started using video more and more, even though Cambia's culture hasn't yet embraced it. It really improves the meeting and gets more done in less time.

I live in a small village where a LOT of useful items get thrown away. I'm hoping I can find ideas about how to encourage others to recycle or rehome useful items.
