REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Go PaperlessWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Tyesea Reed 4/22/2019 9:53 AMI would like to prioritize family time over material things. Life is short and I can't take any of the materials with me, but I know from personal experience how a memory stays with you. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social Justice Learn about Local Indigenous PracticesWhat did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?
Tyesea Reed 4/22/2019 9:50 AMI learned to look for alternate uses for typical "one time" use items. Make an indoor herb garden by reusing a container, reuse glass containers as storage containers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Tyesea Reed 4/05/2019 9:55 AMI have noticed that both my area in Tacoma is becoming more walkable and the area in Seattle in which I work is very walkable, despite all the hills. I have enjoyed the energy boost that I receive from a good walk. If the streets were better lit it would be safer to walk around longer throughout the days. Happy Spring is here and Summer is right around the corner. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Install a Low-Flow ShowerheadWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Tyesea Reed 4/05/2019 9:40 AMI think everyone needs to have flow toilets, faucets and shower heads. It should be a law, much like smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. That way as a region we could preserve water, instead on an individual basis.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-waste CookingHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Tyesea Reed 4/05/2019 9:37 AMI am excited to have lunch leftovers to enjoy today. Plus I save money on not having to buy lunch. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Fix Leaky FaucetsWhat are other easy and low-cost ways to reduce your water usage at home?
Tyesea Reed 4/05/2019 9:36 AMThis was an easy task and very helpful towards my utility bill. My Faucet has been leaking for about a week and the apartment maintenance was able fix it yesterday. Love the money savings and well as the Earth saving. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
Tyesea Reed 4/05/2019 9:34 AMI made dinner for some of my neighbors last night and served smaller portions. Everyone was full off of the smaller portions and they were all happy to take leftovers for lunch today. This task works hand in hand with no food waste. I have leftovers for lunch!!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Properly Dispose of RefrigerantsHow do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?
Tyesea Reed 4/04/2019 9:06 AM
I have been an advocate of recycling for the last 12 years. I have my ole' school parents set up with recycling and make sure that they understand how todays trash can impact tomorrows world. I have been trying to lower my carbon foot print and educating those closest to me on how to do so as well. It frightens me to think that climate change is affecting our world so greatly and it's still so publically denounced. It does calm my mind that their are large scale global projects that are happening around the world to address global warming and that is usually where I take my thoughts to eradicate my fears and concerns. -

I am feeling really positive about completing my challenges today. I have my apartment maintenance coming to fix leaky faucet today and install a low-flow shower head. I am on my way to completing my task. -
Tyesea Reed 4/04/2019 8:52 AMOn my commute home I looked up ways to properly dispose of refrigerants.
