I find that when I'm out and about that I"m more conscious about my surroundings, such as picking up litter as I"m out for a walk.

Action Track: Social Justice Support Indigenous Peoples' Land Management
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

Without balance we only assure ourselves of depleting sustainability. That's why it's important to me!

To me, education and access to basic resources still seems the best way to get our hands around family planning and yet is so greatly needed in so many areas of the world. It's hard to believe that some women still believe babies get delivered by being dropped out of planes overhead. That has to change!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Learn More about Wave and Tidal Energy
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?

Harnessing the power of oceans for generating electricity is being done using some innovative techniques. Researching this area showed me some of the newer technologies being used that I wasn't aware of. I was rather surprised at how much potential there is towards getting this to work. As long as it can be done without harming our oceans or sea life, it seems to be a pretty good approach to reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.

Incredible how peatlands can eliminate almost all the harmful bacteria from waste water. Learning about how housing developments use it for their own waste water treatment and are able to remove all e-coli would seem to make it an attractive solution for many areas.

Peatlands are a beautiful sight to behold and benefit us in many ways!

Researching more about peatlands only draws attention to how we all need to take a part in keeping our ecosystems intact. We're here for only a short amount of time. However future generations will depend on our actions of today.
