I think that we should continue doing these challenges, Eco Challenge or not, after the challenge.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/18/2019 5:21 AM
I think that a sustainable water future would really help the environment, but we need everyone to help.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Upgrade My Windows
How does improving your home's energy efficiency help you better live out your values?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/05/2019 5:20 AM
Improving my home's energy efficiency makes me feel better about what I can to to help the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Social Justice Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/04/2019 7:38 AM
I can advocate for eco-friendly transportation needs while also meeting human needs by making public transportation more convenient for people.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How does environmental quality influence your sense of community?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/04/2019 7:26 AM
I think that environmental quality influences my sense of community because the more natural places there are to enjoy, the more people will go there and more people will meet new people.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-waste Cooking
How are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/04/2019 7:23 AM
These things are also health and social justice issues because these things can make people sick and it is unfair because the people who use these things don't have access to a safe cook stove, which everyone should have.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Research and Advocate for High-Speed Rail
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/04/2019 7:09 AM
Things that influence my transportation choices include time and convenience, and I think that public transportation should be more easily acceptable to everyone, so more people use it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/04/2019 7:07 AM
I already own a fuel-efficient vehicle, and I have seen the lesser impact it has on the environment compared to a car my family used to own, and I think using one is a great way to make a change.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/03/2019 11:51 AM
Sometimes I will drive a short distance instead of walking or biking, but I think that an electric bike will help me not do that.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

    Owen Samra's avatar
    Owen Samra 4/03/2019 9:42 AM
Planting trees is good for us because it helps the environment, it makes us calmer, it makes us stronger, and it helps animals.
