Materials
Go Paperless
#70 Recycled Paper
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by 0.11lbs (0.05kg) a day or 41lbs (18.6kg) a year by opting into paperless billing, ending unwanted subscriptions and opting out of junk mail.

I will replace or remove the palm oil, coffee, and cocoa products in my current diet that are known to contribute to deforestation.

I will watch a video about methane digesters (also commonly known as anaerobic digesters).

I will take a walk for 20 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Action Track: Social Justice
Support Indigenous Peoples' Land Management
#39 Indigenous Peoples' Land Management
I will donate to The Nature Conservancy, which works with Indigenous Peoples to secure land tenure and resource rights, support improved governance and local institutions, assist in natural resource mapping, planning and management; and strengthen livelihoods and sustainable economic development.

I will start a compost bin where I live.

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Genna S. 4/16/2019 2:16 PMMy vision of a sustainable community involves a mixture of solar, wind and geothermal energy sources. To accomplish this we need continued innovation and entrepreneurship to make sustainable energy sources viable, cheap, and easy to use. -
Genna S. 4/08/2019 12:58 PMI learned that indigenous communities are among those most dramatically impacted by climate change—despite contributing the least to its causes—because of their land-based livelihoods, histories of colonization, and social marginalization. More can be done to recognize the unique impacts climate change has on them, as well as their critical contributions of traditional knowledge and practices. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Test Drive an Electric BikeHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?
Genna S. 4/04/2019 3:37 PMI drive short distances instead of walking when I'm in a hurry. Using an electric bike instead of a car would be fun and potentially easier and faster since I wouldn't have to worry about traffic and parking. It would also make going up hills a breeze, so I would be more likely to use it over a regular bike. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Genna S. 4/04/2019 2:48 PMThere are some great vegetarian options in the cafeteria. I recommend the veggie wraps and salad bar. -
