  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Research Barriers to Participation and Representation
What are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?

    Jeniece Schroeter's avatar
    Jeniece Schroeter 4/24/2019 7:28 PM
Stereotypes, intimidation and lack of self awareness. The biggest barrier in my opinion is the ego of the male public.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?

    Support women owned businesses.

I learned that birth control doesn’t exist in certain parts of the world and neither does the right to choose to be a mother. And when it is available women are able to make better choices about their bodies. I have been and will continue to share this.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Launch a Recycling Program
How can you take your commitment to sustainable living beyond yourself? How can you, personally, work toward broader change?

    Jeniece Schroeter 4/24/2019 7:25 PM
I would like to collaborate with other non profits and do a sustainability campaign with my own non profit called JewelFuel.org. Let’s pass on our unwanted jewelry and take back our planet. What matters more to you?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Share Bioplastic Disposal Tips
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

I am vegan and feel that with the amount of brutality going on, the energy of this earth has gone foul. We have forgotten how to interact with and respect nature and everything that comes with it. We have more species going extinct than ever before. We are putting money into cloning these extinct animals through DNA rather than fixing the habits that made them go extinct in the first place. We are spending money researching other planets rather than spending money researching how to fix ours. We are at a critical tipping point where it is inevitable the some damage is permanent. Birth defects in humans and animals alike are on the rise. The concerns are endless.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Materials Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

“Accidentally” spilling half a billion gallons of sludge into the Hudson River is a start.. we need a sustainable system (Advetec.net) to handle our waste. Our fertilizers and pesticides for lawn care also have a devastating effect. I can make sure the land I a, responsible for is organic and that I don’t flush anything that can’t break down. I can also approach legislation.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Eliminate Toxic Plastics
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    Jeniece Schroeter's avatar
    Jeniece Schroeter 4/24/2019 7:16 PM
In the last 6 months I have made a major shift away form single use plastics and no longer allow them in my life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Jeniece Schroeter's avatar
    Jeniece Schroeter 4/24/2019 7:15 PM
I could use this with everything: worn or damaged clothing, i could resist getting then most recent version of a phone, laptop or otherwise. I could use things until they break rather than until they no longer satisfy me,

It makes me feel grounded and whole to start looking at things with respect to the earth rather than pompous personal short lived gain.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Become A Master Recycler/Composter
What could you do differently to waste less?

    Jeniece Schroeter's avatar
    Jeniece Schroeter 4/24/2019 7:13 PM
I am more mindful and live with intent rather than being so scattered. In an organized and prepared manner, I can make sure I always have what I need in the amount that I need it,
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Choose Recycled Paper
Good job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?

    Jeniece Schroeter's avatar
    Jeniece Schroeter 4/24/2019 7:11 PM
Tell other people about my recycled paper, make sure it’s recycled again, print on both sides.
