  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

Health. Sometimes people think that they are way more hungry than they actually are, and before they know it, they are stuffed the brim.

How are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?

They are social justice issues also because it is the people who don't have nicer houses and don't have as much money who get affected by these problems the most. My mom is a teacher at a school where some kids don't have lunches and are don't know where their next meal will come from. That is why it matters to me, and why this problem is absolutely a social justice issue.

    Transport Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

When we went to Kansas to visit my Grandparents, we drove instead of flying. Part of the reason for this is because we are a big family of 5, but it is also the more eco-friendly way to live.

    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

They probably need more protein in their diet, and their lifestyle is much more different than ours. Their values are different, and meat is part of the way they live their lives.
