REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Help Girls Overcome Health BarriersIn what other ways could you help girls overcome health barriers to being able to attend school?
Nicole Spicer 4/24/2019 2:36 PMSupport more organizations that advocate for the health care needs of girls all over the world. We need to make sure our educational systems recognize the basic needs that young girls require and that's done through educating the puplic and policy reform. -
Nicole Spicer 4/24/2019 2:17 PMThis has been a fun and rewarding challenge. The fact that we challenged ourselves to be better custodians of our planet and learned more ways in which we can help reduce carbon emissions and support climate change and global warming solutions we are all winners. Way to go team! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Learn about Temperate ForestsAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Nicole Spicer 4/23/2019 1:20 PMI feel confident that collectively if we all do our part to reduce our carbon footprint and manage our resources responsibly we can direct our course to a more net positve direction. Knowing there are organizations like Illinois Green Alliance is sprouting up all domestically and globally makes me feel hopeful. and so does stories like this: https://wgno.com/2019/01/17/cleaning-new-yorks-filthy-harbor-with-one-billion-oysters/ -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Nicole Spicer 4/23/2019 11:13 AMI'm sometimes surprised by how much the media and advertising influence our eating choices. I've traveled outside of the United States and have noticed that there is less promotion of food products in general. In the US, in particular, we do seem overly fascinated we all thing convenient and fast and that generally comes in the form of burger, chicken, pizza, etc in the form for fast food. Maybe that influences our habits of meat consumption more than we think. -
Nicole Spicer 4/23/2019 11:03 AMWe are in the home stretch and I'm so proud of our team for committing to this ecochallenge and making a difference! -
