Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

Finishing my M. Arch degree! One more year to go! I think a lot of why Americans end up tossing food is mostly cause they don't want to be hassled with making multiple trips to the market to get produce daily. So we over buy when we do go and try to use what we purchase "before it goes bad" opposed to buying what we need when we need it and using it as we need it.

Diversifying our energy supply and improving public health are just two benefits of renewable energy. What other motivators inspire you to consider installing a solar water heater in your home?

Relying on a source that is constant like the sun, is a way of already using something that is provided to us daily.

Identify some ways in which modern human societies have become unsustainable. What kind of roles do individuals have in creating and changing practices in society?

I think in general our energy consumption has increased to the point where it is unsustainable, largely due to how we as a society have grown accustom to living, letting the mechanical and technological advances in building technology influence our building design, opposed to designing in a way that takes advantage of natural ways of heating/cooling and ventilating the buildings we create. A now known issue which our industry is playing catch up with, but the knowledge we have, knowing how large an impact a single  structure can have  on the environment, I'm excited to be apart of that change within the construction industry. Individually its as simple as reducing the amount we eat, and making only what we are going to consume.
