April 26 at 11:12 AMSupporting local farmers and having better knowledge of where my food comes from is the most motivating factor in my goals to source more of our food locally. Learning about the FDA and industrial farming in the US is scary and buying produce from local farmers makes me feel a bit better.

April 26 at 11:09 AMI don't think that I learned much, but mostly reinforced beliefs that I already had. Access to family planning is a major problem. It's frankly embarrassing that access to family planning is such an issue in the United States, as the most developed country in the world.

April 26 at 11:03 AMHonestly, I like all of the reasons to switch to an electric vehicle, but cannot stomach the price so far. I spend a lot of time in my car and love that I could be helping to decrease CO2 emissions while I make my long commute to work. I love the Model S and think that it is a fantastic car, as it is mostly self driving.

April 26 at 11:00 AMYes! Walking in my neighborhood connects me to it. I notice more things, like the house for sale down the block, people playing pick up basketball in our park, and the fundraisers for the local elementary school. I take more time to notice and greet my neighbors.

April 26 at 10:58 AMI think I am the worst with using coffee cups from chain stores. I have done a pretty good job of eliminating my consumption of plastic bags and straws, but I found that I need to start to leave a reusable coffee cup in my car for those random trips to starbucks!

April 26 at 10:56 AMI think convenience, upbringing, and lack of knowledge about the deleterious environmental affects of industrial farming of meat all significantly contribute to North America (the United States specifically) heavy consumption of animal protein. I think collectively, Americans value low cost and convenience over what is best for the planet....

April 11 at 5:50 PMI read through all of the challenges I can engage in, and I've done some of them before joining the challenge already. But this is teaching me HOW MUCH more there is to do. A little overwhelming, but also educational to realize.

April 11 at 10:26 AMmy commute home is a 45 walk east on ocean park. i notice that our neighborhood is really beautiful! i also notice that it stinks of car exhaust and that after centinela, there's no consistently safe dedicated lane for cyclists (otherwise i would have tried biking, but i fear for my freaking life during rush hour). i don' know what to do about...

April 11 at 10:20 AMI try to address my feelings of fear and concern by reducing my own carbon footprint at home (food, transport, minimising excess buying) being kind to people starting their own journey toward awareness and action educating myself whenever i can (this ecochallenge thing is legitimately awesome, tons of good reading and listening material...

April 11 at 10:15 AMI'll throw away perfectly okay food much less often!
