Yes, but not in the variety you'd find online or from specialty stores. Other long-term alternates like glass and stainless steel are readily available.

Low cost of meat products compared to other countries, along with the cultural expectation that meat has a place in every meal of every day. Meat at the table has always been a sign of wealth and prosperity, and Americans love to show that off.
