Majdi Awad 4/24/2019 12:19 PMOver the course of this draw down challenge, I found my self paying more attention than i usually do to the surrounding environment. While paying more attention, i noticed a number of things which I usually would simply brush over. I hope to keep my mind in this attentive state and attempt to do the best that i can to fix these problems. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodClean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?
Majdi Awad 4/07/2019 1:32 PMOne should care about regenerative agriculture for not only all of the above mentioned reasons but also for ones own peace of mind about the food cycle. Regenerative agriculture causes people to think more about the food cycle and how much is wrong with industrial agriculture. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Majdi Awad 4/07/2019 1:29 PMThese issues are human health issues because they cause for a lower air quality causing things like athsma in these regions which are usually poor which makes this a social justice issue. This matters to me because i have family overseas who are effected by these issues. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Majdi Awad 4/07/2019 1:26 PMI think the easy access as well as cost of meat in this country allows for people to take forgranted how much meat they are eating and cause them to ear more than neccisary. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Majdi Awad 4/03/2019 11:25 AMSupporting local farmers is what motivates me the most to by food locally. It benefits the local economy and I plan to possibly be a local farmer in the future. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
Majdi Awad 4/03/2019 11:22 AMBy eating smaller portions a person is likely to have a lower risk of a number of health problems so long as the food they choose to eat is nutritional. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
