REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social JusticeWhat did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?
Kaitlyn Bernier 4/16/2019 9:14 AMI learned that indigenous peoples were really good at living a sustainable life style. Many of the daily practices they partake in have low carbon emissions and their land has much love deforestation than other areas. I can apply these practices to my own life by thinking more simply and not always relying on technology for everyday tasks. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Kaitlyn Bernier 4/10/2019 11:15 AMI could create an organization that informs the people in Indonesia about the costs of draining peatlands and negative impacts it has on the climate. By informing the people how their choices may impact the environment, hopefully Indonesia would stop draining them. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?
Kaitlyn Bernier 4/10/2019 6:42 AMTidal energy seems like a great way to obtain energy from nature. Since the technology needed in order to obtain this energy is smaller than other forms of renewable energy i believe this will be extremely impactful. I was surprised to learn that the energy the could be supplied by the ocean is more predictable than wind power.
