REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about BiomassHad you ever heard of biomass techonology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share this with your friends!

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Learn about Temperate ForestsAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Henry Bick 4/12/2019 11:24 AMTemperate forests have managed to not get affected by the same large scale causes of deforestation, which is hopeful, as not developing can definitely preserve our temperate forests. It is quite a difficult task to completely get rid of development on forests obviously. After learning about the size and scope of our environmental impact, I am trying to take steps that honor the environment instead of being oblivious and wasteful. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Henry Bick 4/11/2019 11:55 AMI could try to rely less on meat, which I already have. I decided to become vegetarian recently, which could be very beneficial for the environment, as meat has a negative effect on rain forests. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Henry Bick 4/09/2019 11:23 AMI had not heard about it, but it is very beneficial to farmers as well as the animals that they are managing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Henry Bick 4/07/2019 5:54 PMI could try to reuse more materials, as this would definitely decrease my environmental impact. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal EnergyGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Henry Bick 4/05/2019 11:28 AMI personally have a geothermal heating system in my house, so I have already invested in Geothermal energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Henry Bick 4/05/2019 11:09 AMThis money could be used to buy food that will not go bad, or just be used to better the intake of food and not waste it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Share Bioplastic Disposal TipsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Henry Bick 4/03/2019 11:46 AMI think that we often have the perception that throwing away or recycling things will somehow take them away from the earth, however that is not true, as their really is no away, everything just ends up on the earth in some way.
