REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Kai Black 4/24/2019 5:20 AMI had heard of it before due to taking notes on it before but I had never actually been too interested in it until now. I think the biggest advantage is being able to keep livestock such as cattle, in the same area as trees. The trees can help protect the animals as well as provide creating a more bio diverse area. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
Kai Black 4/23/2019 6:35 PMeating smaller portions rather than bigger ones can help you digest food better, not gain as much weight, keep blood sugar levels at an average and other benefits too health. It brings a balanced appetite as well.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Kai Black 4/22/2019 1:49 PMThe difference between the three sell dates are rather simple. Use by guides the buyer a date, and the food in question should be consumed before then. Sell by guides the retailer as to when they should sell it by, and it does not necessarily mean that the food in question is bad. Best By is a suggestion as to when the food should be eaten to ensure better quality. Best By dates don't always insure bad food as the smell as well as the taste should be an indicator. By looking at these 3 categories I would look out for Use By the most, followed by Use by, and lastly Sell by. By learning about these 3 I know now what distinguishes them and what I should be buying to ensure good consumption
