Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

Vacation!! There are some areas of Oregon I haven't seen yet and that I want to explore!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

Not eating as much!  "Clean your plate" was often vocalized at our table growing up and "cleaning" a small plate will be less calories, still feel full but not stuffed and may even have leftovers for lunch the next day!  Just don't go back for seconds!!

Depending on when I plan to use the item, I can choose to purchase an "older" dated item and either cook it soon or put in the freezer for a later meal.  Often times those dated items, especially expiration dated foods, have been reduced in price which also saves me money.
