    Doing ok with smaller portions, but still eating a lot at once and then not a whole lot. How can I make meals that are small but filling?

      Add more protein and/or fat?  The body takes more time to metabolize these than carbohydrates.  We were sold a bill of goods with the old 'food pyramid' and 'fat is bad' idea.  Proper fats are perfectly good and are utilized by the body appropriately (and lead to feeling more full).  Read up on it, and see if something new works for you.
