According to https://www.solarpowerrocks.com/indiana/, Indiana has no solar power rebates or tax credits. There is a $0.17/kWh performance payment but only if you are a customer of NIPSCO. Indiana does offer property tax exemptions (100% exempt from all property taxes associated with the increase in home value caused by installing a solar power system.) Indiana residents are also exempt from all sales tax (7%) on the purchase of their solar power system. There is a federal solar tax credit of 30% of the total price of installation.

I contacted Thomas Jefferson Roofing for a consultation on roof solar panel installation for my residence. https://www.thomasjeffersonroofing.com/solar-panels-indianapolis/

How does improving your home's energy efficiency help you better live out your values?

Over 50% of a home’s annual energy consumption is through space heating and air conditioning. I upgraded my air conditioner to a model with a higher SEER rating and also got all the windows replaced with ultra-energy efficient, triple-pane, Energy-Star Certified windows. Heat gain and heat loss through windows are responsible for 25%–30% of residential heating and cooling energy use.
