REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
Madison Cole 4/17/2019 10:25 AMEating smaller portions could have an astounding effect on our own physical and metal health. Eating too much causes fat to be stored which can cause issues in the bones and even our organs (such as too much fat around the heart or liver). Eating smaller portions can help with mental health as well because our brain is also an organ that is affected by our diet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Madison Cole 4/09/2019 8:57 PMImplementing the R's makes me feel like I could make a difference, even though it may be a challenging one it will pay off in the end. I could be better about reusing paper in our home since we both are in college and finding better buying options that could cut my use of paper dramatically. Refusing to buy fruits, veggies, etc. that are wrapped in plastic or another contributor to waste ending up in our oceans because who needs bananas wrapped in a plastic bag when you are going to take them out anyway. I need to be better about remembering my grocery reusable bags that I have bought so I don't continue to get plastic bags in place of them.
