REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social JusticeIndigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?
Hailey Dalio 4/06/2019 4:36 PMWithout balance there is no sustainability. Being sustainable is allowing the ecosystems around to function to their normal capacity which keeps the world in balance. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Hailey Dalio 4/06/2019 4:29 PMI can spend time educating people on the geothermal energy types so that I and they can reduce our energy impact. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand UseMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Hailey Dalio 4/06/2019 4:27 PMI can stop funding the companies that tear up the peatlands by refusing to buy their products.-
Addy Davidson 4/06/2019 4:29 PMWe also need to insist that the practices of commercial companies are clear so the consumer can make this choice. The practice of "hiding" activities behind bogus seals-of-approval must stop.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Hailey Dalio 4/06/2019 4:26 PMThere is a lot more enjoyment in walking or biking with friends. We are able to talk and exercise. Being in a car is sort of like being a bubble so you are able to ignore the people around you more so than when you are outside in the mix of things -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
Hailey Dalio 4/06/2019 4:17 PMusing a smaller plate at work today allowed me to not waste any food when taking my portion sizes
