REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
briana davis 4/22/2019 5:20 PMI started serving all of my family's meals on smaller plates which means we are eating less and wasting less as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
briana davis 4/16/2019 4:29 AMI researched Biochar, and the feasibility of adding it to our soil mix in our (women owned!) (local!) nursery. We will strive to use biochar in the future but unfortunately it is too late in our growing season to start this year as we have already planted the majority of our nursery stock. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

briana davis 4/16/2019 4:16 AMWe have started planting in our vegetable garden despite a few snowflakes yesterday. Cold weather crops are frost tolerant, and the sooner we plant, the sooner we can start feeding ourselves :) -
briana davis 4/16/2019 4:14 AMWe have begun only buying produce that doesn't come in plastic, and bringing our own produce bags with us to the grocery store. I also try to only buy products that are packaged in glass. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
briana davis 4/16/2019 4:07 AMMy kids and I do not use plastic straws anymore, the kids even know to refuse them when we are out.
