REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Alessandra DiGrigoli 4/23/2019 8:00 PMI would rather use the money that gets wasted for food being thrown out to go on a vacation with my family. I love spending time with my family and I would rather see the money being used for something enjoyable for everyone instead of being thrown away. -
Alessandra DiGrigoli 4/23/2019 1:00 PMDuring class today, we planted seeds in our campus garden. Can't wait to watch my team's spinach grow in the few weeks that we have left in the semester. #teampopeye -
Alessandra DiGrigoli 4/16/2019 6:22 PMIn class today, I learned about Vandana Shiva. She fights against Monsanto, the company that created pesticides. While many people use pesticides today, they do not realize the origins of these chemicals, which is chemical warfare. We need to fight against the use of pesticides which is contributing to the destruction of our environment faster than we think. -
Alessandra DiGrigoli 4/10/2019 2:03 PMOver this past semester, I have conducted two food waste audit in Seton Hall's cafeteria. With the information that I have collected from the 2 audits, I hope to inform the food service at our school about what students seem to be wasting the most. If changes can be made, then students will most likely be happier. -
Alessandra DiGrigoli 4/09/2019 3:15 PMDuring class time today, the sustainable foods class cleaned up the garden and started to get the garden ready for planting. Can't wait to plant the seeds and to watch them grow! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and CitiesWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Alessandra DiGrigoli 4/09/2019 3:12 PMOn my daily walks, I have noticed that I have become more aware of my surroundings. I can enjoy the beauty of nature while getting some exercise. I think that cars and buildings really take away from connecting with nature. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Alessandra DiGrigoli 3/28/2019 8:02 AMI can take this action of choosing recycled paper further by educating others on the benefits of choosing recycled paper over non-recycled paper. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Alessandra DiGrigoli 3/28/2019 7:57 AMKnowing the difference allows me to make better choices when buying food. I know what will be most useful for me to not waste any food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Alessandra DiGrigoli 3/28/2019 7:56 AMI think that people in North America eat more meat because it is easily available to them. There are a variety of options of meat available in the supermarkets. I think that North American ways of living have shifted away from having strong values in agriculture.
