  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/24/2019 3:08 PM
A lot of regional changes need to come from the top down. Government should put structures in place for people to become more sustainable, making things less expensive etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/24/2019 3:04 PM
Speaking to people in specific departments and getting the community more involved. The community is so important when it comes to thinking of needs for people and those who are using public transportation.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Install a Toilet Bank
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/24/2019 3:02 PM
We are very conservative with our water because we are have a well. We make a big effort to conserve water a lot. From the rain barrels to water the garden and our plants, to shorter showers and a toilet tank. People should do the same.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Communicate With My Elected Officials
What inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/24/2019 3:00 PM
Being more sustainable is better for the environment. It has to start somewhere. So I want to make a difference, or start to.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/24/2019 10:19 AM
I try to ride my bike as often as possible, even to work. I do think incorporating an electric bike into my life would cut down using the car and it would be way more climate friendly. I would like to ride more often than I do, and I'd like to start more of that!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/24/2019 10:16 AM
I believe that in the long run it would not only be better for the environment, but it would be more financially stable for a lot of people.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/24/2019 7:23 AM
I don't drink coffee, but I do consume chocolate! The coffee facts I learned about was crazy!! An average coffee drinker needs at least 18 trees to sustain the habit - and I know more people who drink coffee than don't. Spread the word about shade grown coffee, that's within rain forests and not needing to take down trees to make a coffee tree farm. It's all about awareness and making better habits.

During my break I'm looking forward to more research and actively doing more ecochallenges!!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/11/2019 11:17 AM
If I was closer to a town biking to the store would be easier. Where we are is often very hilly and there aren't big shoulders on the roads for  bikes. People that drive by off and are driving too fast and I can be scary for a bicyclist.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

    heidi dippel's avatar
    heidi dippel 4/11/2019 11:14 AM
Other cultures have different values about eating things like meat. And they also have more farms that are more local and available, to fill the diets of the people around with more fruits and vegetables. I suppose it means that the North American values and the way of living it's not the best. Last I heard red, we are the most obese country. What does that say...?
