  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

A sustainable community is one where people use clean energy, reduce waste by making wise choices and composting.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

    willem Dougan's avatar
    willem Dougan 4/24/2019 12:09 PM
I could write my congressperson and ask them to have the government invest in geothermal energy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Try Carpooling
List some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

    willem Dougan's avatar
    willem Dougan 4/24/2019 12:08 PM
I could carpool with my friends/coworkers to go to work.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

    willem Dougan's avatar
    willem Dougan 4/24/2019 12:07 PM
An electric bike is a more efficient way of getting around and can easily be used to travel farther and harder to reach places.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I could dispose of chemicals and prescription drugs properly.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

    willem Dougan 4/24/2019 12:05 PM
An easy and simple way is to lower our electricity usage is to turn off the lights when you leave a room or using machines and kitchen appliances only when it's absolutely necessary. You can also use a gas rather than electric stove.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
