REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterialsGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Abdirahman Dudeyeh 4/19/2019 9:40 AMEven with the plastic bag ban in lewiston maine, many retailers still give you paper bags, some with a glossy coating and string handles that can't be recycled. I have made it a point to carry around 1-2 fold-able, reusable bags in my work bag in case I decide to do any shopping downtown on the way home. I also keep reusable grocery bags and produce bags in my car for shopping trips. Then, you don't even need to use paper at all. Also According to one recent study, of the 6.3 billion metric tons of plastic waste that the world has generated since the middle of the last century, we've managed to recycle only about 9 percent of it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Abdirahman Dudeyeh 4/09/2019 10:27 AMwater is huge waste in our food system. why? well there is incredibly stupid way that Americans waste 1 trillion gallons of water each year and comparing it to china that has around 74 billion gallons, that mean we waste a lot of water per year. another thing is that united states of american are approximately 80 percent of the Nation's consumptive water use and over 90 percent in many Western States, so we use 80-90 % to grow food while in china uses 70%.-
Mr McNally 4/10/2019 7:54 AMThat's a surprising amount of water used to grow food in the US. What's your source for that information?
