Women and Girls Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?

I truly think that it starts with supporting women business owners. If they are getting business they are going to support other local business which is in turn helping support the community.

Being able to walk from my house to the grocery store or to a restaurant would make life more enjoyable for me. Not only would iI get to be outside enjoying the fresh air but I would also get to meet more of my neighbors making Fort Myers more of a home for me!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Zero-waste Cooking
How are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?

Eating clean and healthy is something that I have been focusing on a lot more recently because working in the food industry I see how food is being prepared and it makes em want to work harder to eat cleaner not only for my health but also the health of the people around me.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I think that meat in particular is the main course of most peoples meals because in America our meals consist of meal and a starch of some sort. Vegetables aren't thought of until later. I think that the mass consumption of meat in America also impacts the image many countries have of Americans being over weight because of their large portion sizes and focus on meat in meals.

I learned about the Amtrack train thats services a lot of the East Coast and I think that this will be a nice transportation method to try instead of flying everywhere.

A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2. What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

Since I live in Florida, I will look into taking the AmTrack train to Atlanta when I cannot avoid flying to a further away destination. This will allow me to see more of the country and cut way down on my carbon emissions. I frequently fly and because we don't live near a large airport here in Fort Myers the Amtrack will be a nice alternative to taking an extra flight.
