REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Kayla Ellis 4/21/2019 7:14 AMA lot of bugs are starting to come out. I also noticed alot of trees with beautiful flowers on them. I would change the dead leaves and branches on the floor for a better walk. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Explore Other Food SolutionsWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Kayla Ellis 4/19/2019 12:35 PMI learned about silvopasture and how adding more plants could help promote better livestock. I also learned about effective ways people use recycled products. In building solutions I learned about a company in Colombia that makes homes and rooms out of used plastic and recyclables. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Public TransitHow has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Kayla Ellis 4/16/2019 8:14 AMBefore I moved for college, I lived in the city. It was so easy to get transportation where I lived and when I moved to a more rural place, everything seemed to be within driving distance. I more appreciative of the buses and public transportation now more than ever. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 2How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Kayla Ellis 4/10/2019 8:32 AMit was very difficult. I loveeee chocolate and to stop cold turkey was very hard and difficult.. lets see if I could keep this up. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about Regenerative AgricultureClean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?
Kayla Ellis 4/09/2019 8:57 AMSome other reasons is to bring diversity to farms!! learning how to reduce and add something new in order to receive the best out of soil and plants is a very smart tactic. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Kayla Ellis 4/05/2019 8:15 AMI have never heard silvopasture before in my life. After reading more about it, I realized that this process could help livestock and pastures like a life cycle. Plus, my favorite animal is a cow and seeing all those cows benefiting from silvopasture proves that this practice is efficient! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Kayla Ellis 4/03/2019 11:11 AMFor one, I use to drink a lot of coffee. My freshman year of college, I drank 2 cups a day to get to class and function. Ice coffee from Dunkin always seemed to taste better but I didn't know that it could be a main contributor to deforestation. Next time, I am going to cut coffee off all together. -
