  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Buildings and Cities
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

On my daily walks I have noticed the beautiful enviroment that is around me, I see the world not through a car window but I see it in a whole other perspective. I see the beauty in the world and in the societies I have walked through and I see the struggles and the pollution of the enviroment. One thing I enjoyed would be the nice fresh air and the warm cool enviroment that I live in. One change I could do to make my walks more enjoyable would be to get other people to help and realize what I have realized.

    Buildings and Cities
How does improving your home's energy efficiency help you better live out your values?

For starters when we seal off all the cracks and holes in a house to prevent the heat or the cold air from getting in or out then it will allow our air conditioners or thermoses to take a break and not work as hard. This will reduce the amount of electricity that our house uses lowering the cost and the impact on the enviroment when these utilities are plugged in.

Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

Before the draw down eco challenge I personally have never heard of the term "silvopasture", but now I have. The biggest advantage of "silvopasture" would be that when one gives back to the enviroment, when someone gives back to the nature aspect of the farms or places then wildlife will naturally come and inhabit this new land. This is the biggest advantage of "silvospasture" because it is the way that is giving back and creating a better enviroment  for not only us but also mother nature.

    Transport
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

    Christopher Erlandsen's avatar
    Christopher Erlandsen 4/16/2019 8:15 AM
The process for me when constructing a trip around not taking travels through the air would be that we would drive or plan the trip closer to home allowing a good trip and helping out the enviroment.

Do you have any personal connections to a farm or farmland? If so, what are they? What feelings are evoked for you when thinking about declining farmland?

I personally do not have any personal connections to a farm or farmland but the feelings that evoke when I think about declining farmland would be feeling that mean something is up and something is not right. My feelings would be that I feel sad for the farmers when they lose land that they use to farm. To see their main occupation, their main source of income start to dwindle that hurts because that is a good person losing one of the last honest hard working jobs in the society.

Really great experience to get into the garden and prepare it for the up coming spring/ summer so that when the time comes the plans will have a great and healthy garden to grow in.

This challenge that draw-down has supplied for us would be that it is a great thing that everyone can do that requires not a lot of effort. This i a great way to check on the environment
and create a greater impact on the environment.
