  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

It seems like eating smaller portions is certainly better for your health, as you're less likely to overload your stomach with more food than you need. Eating slower and smaller amounts lets you eat until you're actually full.

In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

Affluence in North America is a big part of why we eat so much meat, as it is so readily available. Even in lower income areas, fast food may be the cheapest or easiest food to have access to and that often gives access to lots of meat. Shows that North Americans are generally less resource conservative and responsible, since things that are rarities or valuable elsewhere are easily accessible here.
