REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Research Barriers to Participation and RepresentationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Nora Flynn-McIver 4/24/2019 6:17 AMWomen are barred from equal representation in business mainly because of stereotypes that exist about how women participate in society. The idea that women can't be leaders is a large problem in society. -

Only till a certain point, of course, but it's good to know that. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Support Women-Owned BusinessesGlobally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?
Nora Flynn-McIver 4/03/2019 6:34 PMDuring my research today, I learned about the Western Women's Business Center, which has the goal of fostering economic development in Western North Carolina. It helps to counsel, coach, and train female entrepreneurs in order to create better opportunities for women in North Carolina who want to create businesses. By supporting this organization, you directly support local female business owners.
