Reflection QuestionMaterials Research Cement AlternativesConcrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but may its carbon footprint is not obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?
Cody Foo 4/15/2019 1:11 PMI'd look into steel and glass as well since they're a large part of the construction industry. Carbon emissions of the manufacturing process for steel and glass but also their transport and waste can be interesting to look into. -
Reflection QuestionFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Cody Foo 4/02/2019 7:54 PMFast food is a big part of North American culture and contributes a large amount of meat consumption to our diets. Easy access and cheap prices as well as chains like KFC, which promote a kind of meat as their signature dish, makes it more difficult to choose a vegetarian option when you’re looking for that quick meal. But with A&W’s introduction of the Beyond Meat burger, hopefully there will be a change in which more vegetarian/vegan options are available to everyone.-
nelson chew 4/03/2019 11:04 AMHi Cody, thanks for the comment! It is really tough for people to drop meat from their diets. I love the smells of barbecuing chicken in the summer when I'm walking home from work and it make it tough to commit to less meat. But I've learned a lot more vegetarian recipes in the last few years. And I usually go with Mexican take out because they have more veggie options......I eat a lot of beans lol!
