  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Share Bioplastic Disposal Tips
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Stavroula Gabriel 4/24/2019 4:52 PM
What concerns me is how it harms the animals. What is happening to their environment. We might think that plastic is helpful and sometime the easier way to do things but you don't know what it is doing to other animals and creatures.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Fix Leaky Faucets
What are other easy and low-cost ways to reduce your water usage at home?

    Stavroula Gabriel's avatar
    Stavroula Gabriel 4/24/2019 4:45 PM
You could always tell yourself "do I really need this water" for example, some people only drink like half of the water they bring to school so they could get water from the fountain provided at school, or fill it up a little bit and when you run out fill it up a little bit more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Properly Dispose of Refrigerants
How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    Stavroula Gabriel's avatar
    Stavroula Gabriel 4/23/2019 7:37 PM
What concerns me the most about climate change is how it is effecting nature. People might think they are little things but really they aren't that little, they are important and if people don't try to help at all or ignore it my concern would be what else could happen to nature.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Research Cement Alternatives
Concrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but may its carbon footprint is not obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?

    Stavroula Gabriel's avatar
    Stavroula Gabriel 4/23/2019 7:32 PM
When I researched I read that carbon foot print could be caused by burning fossil fuels.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

    Stavroula Gabriel's avatar
    Stavroula Gabriel 4/23/2019 7:19 PM
Something that I read that motivated me and I thought was interesting was that a lot of where people use their car to get to is within 40 miles from their home and that is the around the amount of miles that a hybrid car battery can power. That fact would really get me to choose a Hybrid car.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Stavroula Gabriel's avatar
    Stavroula Gabriel 4/15/2019 10:19 AM
I can start bringing a tote bag with me everywhere so that when I buy something instead of taking the bag they would give me the items I bought in  that could be and most likely would be plastic I can use my reusable bag.Considering and using the "R's" makes me feel good because I know that even though I am doing little things they are still helping the environment in some way.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Stavroula Gabriel's avatar
    Stavroula Gabriel 4/10/2019 7:37 PM
It helps make better decisions because for some of the types of experations dates you can wait a while after the date it says but for others you could have to throw it away sooner. Knowing the difference between experations dates could help you  waste less food.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Eliminate Toxic Plastics
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    Stavroula Gabriel's avatar
    Stavroula Gabriel 4/03/2019 4:20 PM
I usually buy a plastic water bottle for after school when I stay late so now I will bring in a reusable water bottle.

What did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?

    Stavroula Gabriel's avatar
    Stavroula Gabriel 4/03/2019 4:17 PM
I found out that transporting travelers and tourist is one of the main causes for green house gas and emission all around the world.
