Made a fresh batch of Greek Fava Bean spread (http://thegreekvegan.com/fava-bean-spread/). This on toast with arugula and olive oil is a satisfying start to the day. ~18g protein, loads of fiber, and all plant based.

News hits us everyday about the urgency with which we need to be addressing our carbon and greenhouse gas debt. This can be very hard to handle and I hope through this challenge we can develop a community within our organization to support each other. Not only do we need to be building resilient structures we need resilient minds and support networks to push for what we know is necessary.

How does using human-powered transportation make you feel compared to using other methods of transportation?

Since joining WSP I've nearly completely given up on using a car, my commute is 6.1 miles one way and has been taken exclusively by bike since September 2018. Our small wagon hasn't moved for 7 months!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

If it's in our neighborhood, we ride there. Groceries, school, dates, it's happening by bike.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I've switched to a mostly veggie diet in the past year, our family still has some meat based meals though. We have a five year old and a two year old and chicken tends to be the easiest protein to get them to eat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

I test rode a Surly Big Easy for a week thanks to a local bike shop (BikeShopGirl.com). I knocked off 9 minutes off my commute versus my normal commute on a similar Surly Big Dummy. Hope to sell our second car and go car-lite as a family soon.
