I didn't know a lot of the information, and it was really interesting to learn.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

It makes me feel better about the amount of waste that our culture generates. It also makes people much more conscious about single use plastics.

    Food Learn More about Silvopasture
Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

    Isabella Godfrey's avatar
    Isabella Godfrey 3/27/2019 12:20 PM
I had never heard of Silvopasture before this, and I think the biggest advantage is how it manages to combine animal agriculture with nature and sequester carbon and methane while producing it to help offset the production
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

It's a really big part of our culture to consume meat. We gather around food, food is very important to us. We also have the economic ability to buy meat, and are always looking for ways to add protein into our diets. Meat is the easiest way for Americans to do that.

A community where everything is sustainable. Methane digesters could be a bit part of it. We need to move forward to create a more sustainable environment!

"When family planning focuses on healthcare provision and meeting women’s expressed needs, empowerment, equality, and well-being are the result; the benefits to the planet are side effects." This really sums up everything that I read about family planning. I was surprised to learn that 45% of U.S. pregnancies are unintended.
