Women and Girls Support Women-Owned Businesses
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. How can you better support communities by supporting women? Can you share any past experiences that may help others take action?

Seek out the small business owners when you are spending your retail dollars.  You may pay a bit more but you will receive superior service and may even make a connection with the owner that goes beyond your initial transaction.  Small businesses are important to the world so do your part and be supportive.  I thank you for doing so.

On Sunday morning I walked with a group of friends at the Detroit Zoo.  Going to the zoo is always an opportunity to view the actions the zoo is taking to improve our footprint on earth and to save not only the animals but to also educate the visitors on the impact they make when they choose plastic or destroy natural habits.  It was a lovely day the animals were up and moving around.  For my sister's birthday, I gave her a bee house with the hope that together we can take a step to improving the bee population.

I read several articles on paper versus plastic and concluded that our efforts to do a good thing, e.g.., less paper, is a good action as long as we fully utilize the paper in all phases, including reusing it when possible. Most people think paper bags are more environmentally friendly.  Test have shown that plastic shopping bags outperform paper bags environmentally on manufacturing, on reuse and on sold waste volume and generations.  Good intentions might actually result in a worse impact on the environment.  So when ever possible, I will try to use less paper and plastic. Check out http://www.allaboutbags.ca/papervplastic.html or the March 29, 2019 NYT article titled Plastic Bags or Paper? Here's what to consider when you hit the grocery store.
