REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and GirlsWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
KATIE HALL 4/24/2019 9:00 PMWomen even though they often produce more food than men are allocated fewer resources, land, and rights as men which can hurt their productivity. Support women farmers and the world will have more food to feed the starving. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
KATIE HALL 4/24/2019 8:53 PMHigher income areas and countries use more transportation. This is because people can afford cars and increased transportation to other places is a part of economic growth. We don't realize how privileged we are in Rhinebeck where we each drive our own cars to school each day. I once had a conversation with a girl from Ghana who found it crazy that most Juniors and seniors drive their own/a family car to school because there almost no one has cars; only the rich. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity GenerationWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
KATIE HALL 4/24/2019 8:32 PMA sustainable community is one that creates a very minimal carbon footprint and responsibly disposes of its waste. But mostly a sustainable community does not use up more natural resources than the amount which it will need in the future. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodClean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?
KATIE HALL 4/24/2019 8:20 PMSoil is a carbon sink so the more responsibly we farm, the more carbon we can take out of the atmosphere and store in soil. -
KATIE HALL 4/24/2019 8:12 PM#ecochallengegrind Only about 45 minutes left! Do some research challenges and post, its never too late.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
KATIE HALL 4/24/2019 8:05 PMAll of these reasons inspire me. I fear the methane emissions from food waste and the fact that many people in the world are starving and a third of food is wasted disgusts me. -
KATIE HALL 4/24/2019 7:58 PMI help to run the Mad Dash in Rhinebeck and a way we can be more ecofriendly is by using compostable bioplastic cups. -
