I spent my time learning about "Women Giving Back", which is a non-profit started by female executives to aid women and children in crisis. Their programs provide clothing and resources to get women back on their feet and find stability through wrap-around services and coaching for gainful employment.

I discovered that I was actually conflating "use by" and "best by" dates on my food. Having this knowledge will probably make me feel more comfortable with not immediately throwing out foods-- and thereby reducing food waste-- when the use by date on the packaging has passed.
